Next-Generation Music Content Platform (NRT 3.0)
A next-generation redesign of an established music content platform, focused on editorial content, scalable architecture, and continuous data synchronization from a legacy system with decades of data.
Project Summary
Industry: Media / Content Platform / Music
Region: United States
Type: SaaS Platform + CMS + Data Synchronization System
Engagement: Long-Term Partnership & Platform Evolution
Problem we helped solve
The existing platform (NRT 2.0) had been running for years with a large and continuously growing dataset dating back to 2004. While it successfully served users, the system needed a modern architecture to support better content organization, editorial workflows, performance, and scalability.A key challenge was to redesign the platform without disrupting existing data and operations, while handling continuous synchronization from the legacy system.
- Legacy system (NRT 2.0) contained a large dataset accumulated since 2004.
- Need to modernize platform without disrupting existing data and workflows.
- Continuous data updates required synchronization instead of full migration.
- Content structure needed improvement for better discovery and editorial control.
- Admin workflows required better management for contributors, editors, and content types.
- Platform needed to support scalability for thousands of users and daily updates.
What we built
We designed and developed NRT 3.0 as a next-generation content platform built on Laravel, Voyager, Vue.js, and MySQL.The new system introduces a zone-based content architecture, allowing content such as artists, albums, articles, and editorials to be organized more effectively by genre and category.Instead of replacing existing data, we implemented a continuous incremental synchronization system that keeps NRT 3.0 updated with data from NRT 2.0 using timestamp-based updates. This ensures data consistency while allowing both systems to operate during the transition phase. The platform includes a fully powered CMS where administrators, editors, and contributors can manage all aspects of content, including artists, releases, genres, articles, contributors, and editorial workflows. This is the next evolution of the platform, currently under active development, built on top of a real production system serving thousands of users and updated daily.
Zone-Based Content Architecture
All content including artists, albums, articles, and editorials is organized into zones for better categorization and discovery.
Incremental Data Synchronization
Continuous sync from NRT 2.0 using timestamp-based updates ensures data consistency without full database replacement.
